After a brilliant career in the Royal 22e Regiment, Warrant Officer Rioux spearheaded many initiatives for the well-being of Veterans from the Greater Québec area. President of the Québec Branch of the Association du 22ième Inc., Warrant Officer Rioux planned and directed the association's membership growth as well as many charitable activities for the benefit of Veterans, retired Forces members and numerous foundations. He successfully organized the first Royal 22e Regiment open golf tournament, raising over $8,000 for the regiment's and local charities.
Warrant Officer Rioux organized an efficient and dedicated team to pay last respects to Veterans and retired Forces members. Over a period of four years, this team has attended more than 70 ceremonies annually. Mr. Rioux was also very involved in the activities of Héma-Québec and the Korean Veterans Association. He organized a fundraising campaign to erect a memorial in Pusan.
Warrant Officer Rioux was also involved in training, speaking every year to non-commissioned officers as part of the regimental training program for officers and non-commissioned officers. He was also an active member of several organizations, including the Royal Canadian Legion and the Lévis Memorial, and was recognized by his peers.
