Baptized Joseph-Félix-Albert Bertrand. Son of Olivier Bertrand and Auxilia Laurin (deceased in 1915), of Ritchance and L’Orignal, Prescott, Ontario. He stated being born on 22 June when he enlisted. He was severely wounded in St-Éloi and he died at the 6th Field Ambulance.
Wounded in action at Bully-Grenay, Pas-de-Calais, France, on 18 October 1915, by a bullet to the left eye, he returned to the 22nd Battalion on 15 March 1916.
