Son of John Benedict of Tasis, British Columbia and Sandra Lee Doerkson of Munster Hamlet, Ontario. Brother of Andrew and Michael. Husband of Captain Marie Pier Elizabeth Mirielle (nee Cloutier) Benedict of St. Albert, Alberta. On 2 December 1993, 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron held a ceremony dedicating a CH-136 Kiowa helicopter at Sir Winston Churchill Memorial Park in 18 Wing Edmonton. The park is a memorial to those members of the Canadian Forces who gave given their lives while stationed at 18 Wing. One of the main features of the park is a central fountain area where the names of these members are inscribed on a series of plaques.
