Photo courtesy of Frans van Cappellen, The Netherlands<P> FS Magder was Observer on Lancaster ED 440 which had taken part in the following key Operations: Berlin 16/17Dec43; Dusseldorf 27/28Jan43; Hamburg 30/31Jan43; Cologne 2/3Feb43-Lost. The crew was airborne 1851 2Feb43 from Fiskerton. Shot down by a night-fighter, crashing 2113 2Feb43 between Kessel and Helden (Limburg), where those killed were initially buried. They have since been re-interred in the Jonkerbos War cemetery. Also killed was F/O (WAG) E.J.F. Dunand of Saskatchewan. Four RAF crew members were killed and one survived and was taken PoW.
