He was born under the name of Clémentin Cyr.
Son of Adélard Cyr and Malvina Cyr of New Richmond, Québec. Brother of Rifleman Leon Cyr, regimental number E-30355, and Augustin Cyr, regimental number E-30357, of the Royal Rifles of Canada, also prisoners of war in Hong Kong and Japan. They survived the war.
Served in Québec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland with W Force, Hong Kong with C Force, Japan as a prisoner of war. He had 1,829 days of service, including 1,411 overseas.

YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY is 9 kilometres west of the city on Yuenchi-Dori, Hodogaya Ward, which branches left off the old Tokkaido highway. The nearest railway station is Hodogaya, 5 kilometres to the north on the JNR line but the cemetery is easily reached by bus from Yokohama station.
