Son of John Magloire Jacquard and Julienne (alias Julia) Anne Bond, of Little River Harbour, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
He enrolled with the West Nova Scotia Regiment, was deployed to 1st Battalion, Royal Rifles of Canada, on 28 November 1940, served with Force W in Newfoundland, was transferred to Force C, was captured in Hong Kong and sent to force labour in Japan, from 15 August 1943 until the day he died, 1 January 1944, caused by a typhoon that swept his camp and hut. He had 1,524 days of service, including 796 overseas.

YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY is 9 kilometres west of the city on Yuenchi-Dori, Hodogaya Ward, which branches left off the old Tokkaido highway. The nearest railway station is Hodogaya, 5 kilometres to the north on the JNR line but the cemetery is easily reached by bus from Yokohama station.
