Location:

Clichy is a town adjoining the northern boundary of Paris. The Cemetery lies between the Town Hall and the River Seine and is entered from the Rue General Roger. The British Plot is in the southern quarter of the Cemetery under the south boundary wall. Clichy is best reached from central Paris by taking the Metro from the Gare St. Lazare to Port de Clichy Station, which is near Clichy Town Hall.

  • Photo of William Sturmy– Sturmy, William John De Blois - Pilot Officer. Born 5th March, 1917, at Halifax. Educated at Halifax Public Schools and King's Collegiate School, Windsor, N.S. Entered the service of the Bank 18th January, 1938. Served at Halifax, and Charlottetown, P.E.I. Enlisted 10th January, 1942, from the latter branch in R.C.A.F. Sergeant Pilot in May, 1943; Flight Sergeant in January, 1944; Pilot Officer 29th March, 1944. Trained at Lachine and Windsor Mills, Que., and Moncton, N.B. Overseas in May, 1943. Served with 433 Squadron. Missing after air operations over Germany on 19th April, 1944. Officially presumed dead 25th January, 1945. His Station Chaplain wrote: "I shall never forget his coolness and bravery, and at the same time his consideration for others," From a memorial booklet prepared by the Canadian Bank of Commerce.
