BECKLINGEN WAR CEMETERY is 13 km south east of Soltau on the west side of the road from Hamburg to Hannover. From Hannover travel north in the direction of Hamburg on the Autoroute No.7 for 80 km until the junction with Soltau Sud, this is in fact the junction of the A7 with the B3 Hannover to Hamburg road. On leaving the A7 at Soltau Sud follow the B3 in the direction of Celle and Bergen. The cemetery is on the right hand side of the road, 7 Km from the motorway junction.

On July 29, 1944, Halifax LW 595 of 415 Squadron joined a force of 46 Lancasters and 186 Halifaxes on an operation to Hamburg. On this raid 6 Group suffered their highest losses with 22 crews failing to return. A total of 136 aircrew were killed and 29 taken prisoner of war. [RCAF Bomber Group]
P/O Reason is buried in the Becklingen War Cemetery, which has 2,374 Commonwealth burials, most of whom died during the last two months of the war. Also buried there are the following crew members:
F/O (P) Dugald Morrison, age 20, from Dalhousie, Ont. (2nd Dickie flight)
P/O (AG) Walter D. Robertson, age 19, from Vancouver, B.C.
P/O (AG) Lloyd W. McElroy, age 22, from Darlingford, Man.
The other crew members are buried in Sage War Cemetery. They are:
F/O (P) Arthur Geo. Stein, age 25, from Neudorf, Sask.;
F/O (N) George K. Renaud, age 27, from Edmonton, AB;
P/O (AG) Alfred W. Prosofsky, age 20, from Regina, Sask.;
and the RAF Flight Engineer, Sgt. Angus M. MacIver.
One RCAF crew member (Sgt. R. A. Harvey) survived and was taken Prisoner of War.
