Son of late William Fraser Campbell and Fannie (née Bilson) Campbell, of Foresters Falls, Ontario. Brother of Daniel, William, Cecil, Clifford, Chester, Earl, Eliza, Ida, Etta and Gertie.

He was engaged to Dorothy McLauglin. He got his basic training as a soldier at 22nd Basic Training Centre in North Bay, Ontario, from 12 March 1942 to 14 April 1942; service number B-606805.

He was buried on 12 February 1943.
