Son of Jabez and Elizabeth Voakes, of Bognor Regis, Sussex, England; husband of Amy Pearl and father of Amy Elizabeth Voakes, of Langbank, Saskatchewan. Brother of Frederick David, John Garry and Wilfred Thomas. He enlisted in Regina, Saskatchewan on 30 January 1942. He had Canada only service.
