John was born in Newton of Wemyrs Fifeshire Scotland on May 10th 1873.  Husband of Elizabeth (Dickey) Young, John enlisted into the C.E.F. at Vancouver BC on July 9th 1915 and listed his occupation as "Grocer"  John died at Vancouver BC of the Spanish Flu on April 15th 1919 at the age of 48.  He was laid to rest in the Mountain View Cemetery of Vancoucer BC.
