Son of Ivan H. and Mary F. Stark of Galt, Ontario. Husband of Marie Rejeanne Yvette Stark of Timmins, Ontario. Father of Larry D., Linda M. and Robert Stark. Brother of Ronald G., Frederick T Stark and Eva J.E. Lund. Sergeant Ivan Stark served as part of the United Nations Emergency Force 1 in Cairo, Egypt. He was the first Canadian peacekeeper to be killed by a landmine. The Mine Awareness Training area at CFB Kingston officially bears his name.
