Carl graduated from the University of Guelph (ENG '82), received a master’s degree from the University of Toronto (Biomedical ENG '84), and also from University of Toronto (Medicine 89).
Carl served in the Air Force for over 24 years, ending his career as the Chief of the Air Force Surgeon, specializing in Aerospace Medicine. He also worked as an ER Doctor. Throughout his career, Carl worked with NASA, NATO, the United States Navy, Russia and served in Afghanistan and published several papers that have changed the way they do medicine in many countries throughout the world. In 2009 he was awarded ER Doctor of the year award from Lakeridge Health Oshawa.
Carl was a dreamer, an adventurer and a doctor, but most importantly a family man, husband, father, son, a brother, and uncle who was respected by many.

OTTAWA (BEECHWOOD) CEMETERY Ontario, Canada
OTTAWA (BEECHWOOD) CEMETERY contains 98 Commonwealth burials of the First World War and 113 from the Second World War. Many of the graves are in the two veterans plots, where there is also a Cross of Sacrifice dedicated to all service casualties buried in the cemetery.
The OTTAWA CREMATION MEMORIAL is in a shelter adjoining the newer of the veterans plots in the cemetery and commemorates 26 Second World War servicemen whose remains were cremated elsewhere in Canada and the U.S.A.
