Son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Thomas of Markham, Ontario, Cst. Thomas was from Lindsay, Ontario. Prior to joining the Force he studied Law Enforcement at Ontario’s Seneca College. He was recommended by his Depot Instructors for the High Potential Development Program. Cst. Thomas took many courses to make him a better police officer and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was driving on a curve in the road when a tractor trailer failed to negotiate the curve and plowed into Cst. Thomas’ police car. He was married to Karen who was expecting and they had one young daughter named Patricia Lynn. Karen gave birth to a son, James, six weeks after Cst. Thomas’ death. Cst. Thomas is buried in Wilford Cemetery near Lindsay, Ontario.
