This memorial was unveiled on 2 October 2015 in honour of Private Richard Green, who was killed in a friendly fire incident in Afghanistan on the night of 17 April 2002. Private Green and three other soldiers from Alpha Company of 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry were killed, and eight others injured, from a bomb dropped on them by a formation of two United States Air Force F-16 fighter aircraft. The Canadian Forces soldiers were conducting a night live-fire training exercise at a place known as the Tarnak Farm, located about 15 kilometers from the Kandahar airfield and base in Afghanistan.

The three other soldiers killed were: Corporal Ainsworth Dyer, age 24, from Montreal, Quebec; Private Nathan Lloyd Smith, age 27, from Porters Lake, Nova Scotia; and Sergeant Marc D. Leger, age 29, from Lancaster, Ontario.

Constructed in 1919, to honour those service men who were killed in action during the First and Second World Wars. The monument was erected through the efforts of the Women's Institute of Milton. It was originally placed in the Milton Cemetery, but in 1995 was moved to the newly developed Tupper Park so it could be more visible and accessible to the public. The names of those who died during the war of 1914 - 1918 are listed on the left and right side of the Pedestal. The names of those who died during the war of 1939 - 1945 are listed on a grey granite slab attached to the base of the monument. On the front of the Pedestal there is a carved wreath in "bas-relief" with the etchings of the crossed rifle bayonets fixed piercing the centre of the wreath.

This memorial is primarily dedicated to the centenary of the settling of New Ross in 1816, but also contains the names of the local war dead and veterans of the First and Second World Wars. It is the first memorial in Nova Scotia to honour those who served during the First World War and has seen many changes over the years. The base was placed at the village crossroads on 28 August 1917. The finished stones were placed on the base in the fall of 1918. In 1959, it was moved to its present location. The carving of the soldier was added in the 1990s.

The pride of the Canadian navy during the Cold War, these anti-submarine escorts were the first major naval vessels conceived and built in Canada. Designed in 1948-1949, they influenced naval construction internationally with their smooth above-water surfaces and distinctive convex deck. They could also be sealed to protect crews against biological and radioactive threats. All seven St. Laurent-class ships were modified during the 1960s to carry helicopters and enhance their anti-submarine capability. Launched in 1953, HMCS Fraser is the last surviving example of this innovative class of warship.

Fraser was laid down by Burrard Dry Dock Co. Ltd., Vancouver, but completed by Yarrows Ltd., Esquimalt. She served on the west coast until her conversion to helicopter-carrying destroyer configuration at Canadian Vickers Ltd., Montreal, beginning 2 July 1965. She was then based at Halifax. She demonstrated the Canadian-designed Beartrap helicopter haul-down system at Washington, D.C., in October 1967.

Fraser was refitted for Destroyer Life Extension at Canadian Vickers Ltd., between 19 October 1981 and 28 May 1982, and was thereafter something of a test vehicle. She was the first Royal Canadian Navy ship to be fitted (1986) with an experimental towed array sonar system, and was the test bed for the NIXIE torpedo decoy system and later a tactical aircraft beacon. In 1988 she was equipped to operate the HELTAS helicopter in a passive acoustic role.

Fraser was among the ships enforcing United Nations sanctions against Haiti between October 1993 and March 1994. Fraser was the last of her class to be paid off, and replaced Assiniboine in a classroom role until 18 December 1997 when she arrived at Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, to become a floating museum. She was reacquired by the Department of National Defence in 2009 for disposal and was broken up for scrap at Port Maitland, Ontario, in 2011.

The Markland Shipping Company Monument was dedicated on September 7, 2002. The Markland Shipping Company was a steamship company located in Liverpool from 1929 until 1959. Markland Shipping was a subsidiary of the Mersey Paper Company which employed seamen from Queens, Lunenburg and Shelburne counties. During the Second World War, five ships of the Markland Shipping Company and crew were used by the Canadian government to carry cargo. The location of the monument looks out to the wharf where the vessels once docked.

After the death of Izaak Walton Killam, a major shareholder of Mersey Paper, in August 1955, the company and its subsidiary, the Markland Shipping Company, were sold to the Bowater Paper Company. Bowater already had its own steamship company and transferred Captain Charles Copelin to Bowater's England affiliate in 1957. He was named the managing director of the Bowater Steamship Company.

David Chandler and Greg Copelin, son of Captain Copelin, who were involved in a Markland Shipping Company reunion which took place in 2000, spearheaded a campaign to raise money to purchase a monument and dedicate it to the men who sailed on the vessels. They raised about $10,000 from former seamen and their friends and relatives who sailed on the vessels. At that time, the monument was dedicated to the sailors.

The event began with music from the Mersey Band followed by the unveiling of the memorial, placement of wreaths, inscriptions reading, tolling of the Awenisbe bell and flowers were thrown in the harbour in memory of the men that were killed in the Second World War. Speakers included Mayor John Leefe, whose father sailed with the company, and Tom Raddall II, who sailed for five summers while he was attending university. Mr. Raddall recapped the company's history.
