To honour the sacrifices and stories of the Canadian soldiers who served in the Defence of Hong Kong in WWII. 

In 1941, Canada dispatched 1,975 soldiers from across the country to Hong Kong to reinforce the city’s garrison against an impending attack by the Japanese Imperial Army. That attack took place on December 7, 1941, resulting in 290 Canadian deaths and 483 wounded. The survivors became Prisoners of War of a brutal and uncaring enemy. On August 15, 1945, the 1,418 surviving POWs were released from their 3 year and 8 month ordeal. 

On behalf of Mid West Basketball League (MWBL), for your contributions past, present & future, our organization will be hosting the Mid West Shoot Out (Tournament of Nations) on the May long weekend in Ottawa, ON, Canada, on Saturday May 16th.  

Doors will open at 1:30PM with tipoff at 2:45PM.  
Location is Jack Doyle Athletic Center.
