Join us for the 151st Anniversary Ceremony of Founding the North-West Mounted Police (NWMP) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

RCMP Veterans' Association, Ottawa Division and Beechwood Cemetery invites you to an annual commemoration held at the RCMP National Memorial Cemetery at Beechwood held on May 23, 2025.

The sequence of the day:

  • Reveille at 6:00 AM
  • Vigil from 6:00 AM until 11:30 AM
  • Ceremony at 10:45 AM until 11:45 AM

Following the official closing remarks for the Canadian Tulip Festival, we recreate a Victory Day Parade along Queen Elizabeth Drive which will include Vintage Military Vehicles, a Big Band performance and Authentic Swing Dancers.

The public will be encouraged to grab a flag and to parade back in time to a hard-earned victory for freedom and friendship.

Our Grand Finale features a breathtaking display as we merge drones and fireworks, honoring the Battle of the Scheldt and celebrating ultimate victory with an unforgettable sendoff!

The Royal Netherlands Air Force Orchestra – Thank You Canada Concerts

In the spring of 2025 we celebrate 80 Years of Liberation. The Royal Netherlands Air Force Orchestra will be coming to Canada to perform a series of concerts and events. This is a special Thank You Canada Concert and will be free of charge.

Final concert will be outdoors on Parliament Hill at 12:00 noon together with the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces.

The Canadian Tulip Festival was established 73 years ago in 1953 to commemorate the memorable role of the Canadian troops in the liberation of the Netherlands. The Festival also celebrates the birth of Dutch Princess Margriet in Ottawa and the historic gift of tulips from the Dutch to Canadians immediately following the Second World War.

Our Opening Ceremony begins with vintage military vehicles, swing dancers and actors in costume.

Join us on Wednesday, May 8th 2025 at 1030 hrs for a Remembrance and Wreath laying ceremony at the National Military Cemetery.

We will take a moment to honour all those who have lost their lives in the defence of the people of Ukraine and remember the historical connection between Canada and Ukraine. 

This ceremony is supported by the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada and the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.

The Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 147) will commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the WWII, Victory in Europe with a week-long series of events in the Commemoration. Then on Thursday, May 8th there will be a morning parade and ceremony at the Branch 147 Cenotaph. The public is invited to stay for the afternoon where we will continue our celebration and commemoration. Over 20 new Flag Banners of WWII Barrie and Simcoe County Veterans will be on display.

Remembrance of the Dead (Dutch: Dodenherdenking) is held annually on May 4 in the Netherlands. It commemorates all civilians and members of the armed forces of the Kingdom of the Netherlands who have died in wars or peacekeeping missions since the beginning of the Second World War.
