This memorial was established after the First World War. Plaques to commemorate those lost in the Second World War and Korean War were added later. The memorial is in a section of the park known as the Memorial Arboretum, which was the former site of Hagersville Public School.

On top of the memorial is an eternal light to remind of us our promise to never forget the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for our freedom.

The Beamsville Cenotaph was erected with the help of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 397. Originally it paid tribute to the men and women lost in the Great War, their names presented on brass plaques attached to the front of a white stone wall. Later other plaques were added with names of those lost in the Second World War, and also to recognize the wars in Korea and Afghanistan.

At the sides of the memorial is a First World War German Spandau machine gun, and a M114 155mm Howitzer from the Second World War. Topping the  memorial is a golden-coloured crown to honour all those who fought for Home, Empire and Freedom.

Join us for the No Stone Left Alone - National Capital Region Girl Guides Ceremony

The ceremony involves Girls Guides and their leaders placing poppies on each and every soldier’s headstone in the Veterans Section of the National Military Cemetery of Canada to honour Canada's fallen military.

The formal ceremony will be 20 minutes. We ask that the Girl Guides and their families dress for the weather and follow all public health protocols in place from Girl Guides Canada.

On Tuesday, November 4th, 2025 at 10:30 am at the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood will host the 8th Annual No Stone Left Alone event where School students, members of the Canadian Armed Forces, and the community at large unite in a remembrance experience.

The ceremony involves students and others placing poppies on each and every soldier’s headstone in different sections of the cemetery to honour Canada's fallen military.

This ceremony and event are proudly supported by the 76 Communications Regiment.

The Kakabeka Falls branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is proud to host its 8th Annual Half Marathon & 8K in honour of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War 2.

Participants travel along a partially closed Trans-Canada Highway, through some secondary highways, rolling country roads and a well-maintained trail in the Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park. Both the 8K and the Half Marathon course travel over the Kakabeka Falls and all runners will have a spectacular view of the second highest falls in Ontario.

The annual event is to commemorate the contributions of St. John Ambulance volunteers who served as part of the Voluntary Aide Detachment during both World Wars and to honour the memory of the many brave men and women of the Canada Armed Forces who fought in subsequent international conflicts and paid the ultimate sacrifice. The event also recognizes CAF members who serve today, at home and abroad.

The Veterans National Memorial Remembrance Ceremony is an event that brings together Veterans and Canadian Armed Forces motorcycle enthusiasts and supporters to remember and commemorate Canada’s Fallen Veterans.

Veterans and Canadian Armed Forces motorcycle riders arrive at the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood in their groups.

Veterans and Canadian Armed Forces motorcycle enthusiasts and Veteran supporters participate in a Service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony to commemorate Canada’s Fallen military servicemen and women.

Veterans Affairs Canada will host a commemorative ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of the entombment of Canada’s Unknown Soldier on 28 May 2025. A commemorative ceremony will take place at the National War Memorial in Ottawa beginning at 10h00. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier stands as a powerful symbol of remembrance, representing the more than 120,000 Canadians who gave their lives in service to peace and freedom. It is a memorial for all who served in the navy, army, air force and merchant marine, and those who may serve in the future.
