His full name is Joseph Eugène Ludger Lorenzo Baril.

Son of Fidèle Baril and Olive Nault, Thurso and Buckingham, Quebec.

When he enlisted, he anglicised his surname to Bariel. He died of wounds sustained the same day in action on 15 August 1917 during the Battle of Lens, Pas-de-Calais, on Hill 70 in the trenches near Cité Saint-Laurent, France, for the capture of Catapulte Trench Catapult.

Location:

Aix-Noulette is a village in the Department of the Pas-de-Calais, about 13 kilometres south of Bethune on the main road to Arras. From Arras take the D937 towards Bethune. At Aix-Noulette, turn right at the church. The AIX-NOULETTE COMMUNAL CEMETERY and EXTENSION are a few hundred metres on the left side of the road to Bully-Grenay.
