  • Photo of Jerry Martell– Photo of J.G. (Jerry) Martell is believed to be a Regiment photo taken in perhaps in October or November of 1943. It is not clear if it was taken in Italy or at a stop on the way to Italy while transported by the Troop Vessel "John Ericcson" (Departed from Liverpool, England on Oct 27th, 1943). Research notes reveals that the Perth Reg. and Cape Breton Highlander Regiment attacked the "ridge" at approximately 0100 hrs. on Sept. 13, 1944. In the one hour victorious battle the Perth Regiment only had 10 casualties - Joseph Martell was of them as a result of a sniper bullet. He perished coming to the aid of a superior officer. He was survived by his father, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and wife Helen Joyce Martell (Buffet).
  • Martell Brothers– Photo of L/Cpl. Martell (right) and his brother Eddie Martell (Left of the Sherbrooke Regiment). The photo was believed to be taken in early August 1943 at Camp Barton Stacey, near Hampshire and Winchester, England where troops were gathered prior to deployment. Eddie Martell later took part in the D-Day invasion of Normandy and he survived. Jerry fought in the Italian Campaign and sadly, he was killed in action at Corriano Ridge, Italy on September 13, 1944.
