Burial Information
DURBAN (STELLAWOOD) CEMETERY
Kwazulu Natal, South Africa
Block F. Grave 383.
Durban (Stellawood) Cemetery is situated some 6 kilometres from the Durban City Hall and lies on the slope of a hill commanding fine views over the city. The 1939-1945 War Graves Plot is situated on the slope of a widely curved rise which has been terraced along its upper reaches to provide three levels. Steps have been built to link the different levels and from the upper terrace access can be gained to the 1914-1918 War Graves Plot and the Cross of Sacrifice. In the centre of the middle terrace the Stone of Remembrance has been placed, and behind this, set into a wall flanked at each end by a square shelter with domed roof, is the Durban (Stellawood) Cremation Memorial commemorating 33 casualties who have no known grave, whose names are inscribed on a bronze panel.
