Métis of the Saulteaux Nation born as Victor Ernest Proulx. Son of Onésime Proulx and Rosalie Ducharme, of St. Anne, Manitoba.
Brother of Private Edmond Proulx, regimental number H-61671, who fought in Europe during the Second World War and survived the war.
To commemorate his sacrifice, the Manitoba government named Proulx Bay located on Spruce Lake in his honor in 1989.

YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY is 9 kilometres west of the city on Yuenchi-Dori, Hodogaya Ward, which branches left off the old Tokkaido highway. The nearest railway station is Hodogaya, 5 kilometres to the north on the JNR line but the cemetery is easily reached by bus from Yokohama station.
