  • HMCS Micmac– was a Tribal class destroyer built in Halifax for the Royal Canadian Navy. The ship was launched 18 September 1943 and commissioned on 12 September 1945. On 16 July 1947 Micmac collided in fog with SS Yarmouth County off Halifax. The collision caused extensive damage, destroying 45 feet of Micmac’s bow. Leading Seaman Joseph William John Acton was one of 11 sailors killed in the collision”.
