  • Photo of Martin Joseph O'Brien– From the Sydney Academy Memorial booklet, published by the Student's Assembly in memory of former students who served during the Second World War. The original pictures were supplied by the Sydney Post-Record and the booklet was compiled by Jack Wilcox, class of 1946 and Donald Trivett, class of 1947. Additional Information courtesy of Floyd Williston: F/Sgt. Martin J. P. O'Brien, age 22, was killed on May 29, 1942, at 32 OTU, Patricia Bay, B.C., when Beaufort N 1026, developed engine problems and crashed into the sea. The aircraft disintegrated and sank. There were no survivors. F/Sgt. O'Brien is buried in St. Theresa's Cemetery, in Sydney.
