Thelus is a village about 6.5 kilometres north of Arras and 1 kilometre east of the main road from Arras to Lens. The NINE ELMS MILITARY CEMETERY is on the western side of the main road and about 1.5 kilometres south of the village.

  • Photo of William Henry Potter– This photo of William Henry Potter appeared in the Toronto Star on May 17, 1917. It reads "I haven't felt better in my life" wrote Pte. Harry Potter to his brother, A. R. Potter of 37 Sproat avenue, on April 6. On April 9 he was struck dead on the battlefield. Pte. Potter was 23 years of age. Before enlisting he worked as a shipper. His mother resides in the Old Country."

  • Gravestone of William Henry Potter– This is the grave of my great uncle, William Henry Potter, who died at the battle of Vimy Ridge April 9, 1917. I wish to thank Didier Letombe of France who took the trouble to go to Thélus to look for the grave for me. He sent me this photo a few days later. Rest In Peace Great-Uncle William.
