  • Photo of John Swan– Submitted in memory of the members of the 131st Battalion CEF. Submitted for the project, Operation: Picture Me
  • Graves Registration Form– This is an example of where a Canadian Soldier was killed in action, buried in a French Cemetery, which was then destroyed in a subsequent battle. Private Swan had been buried in the Sallaumines Communal Cemetery, German Extension, which was then destroyed. He is not buried in the Bully-Grenay Communal Cemetery Extension, rather he has a special "Kipling Memorial Cross" to commemorate his loss. This differs from those that have (or had) no known grave and even if they were on a special memorial, those memorials were removed from the cemetery and their names were added to the Vimy Memorial.
