  • Photo of William Cook– William Cook, born 1884 in Victoria, Ontario, Canada, son of Henry Cook and Ann Lockhart. Grew up in Housey's Rapids (near Gravenhurst) and worked as a carpenter until he enlisted 23rd September 1914 in the Canadian Expeditionary Force at Valcartier. He served in England and France for the duration of the war but died of influenza at No. 14 Canadian General Hospital in Eastbourne, Sussex, England on the 8th February 1919 and is buried there in Seaford Cemetery. Two of William's brothers Harry Ray Cook and Stanley Perry Cook also served in WWI but survived to return home to Canada.
