Hello. My name is Kent Hehr, Canada's Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence. The Government of Canada tabled Budget 2017.Graphic of a family.

Our goal has been to ensure a greater level of financial security for Veterans and their families, and now we are investing heavily in education for Veterans, and doing more to support their overall well-being.Graphic of man and woman with caregiver in background.
We are improving supports such as the new Caregiver Recognition Benefit. We have also extended the time limit for spouses and survivors to apply for vocational rehabilitation and assistance services.Map of Canada with Military Resource Centre locations highlighted.

We announced in Budget 2017 a new Veteran Emergency Fund to help Veterans Affairs Canada address unique and urgent situations that a Veteran may be facing.Graphic of man sitting at an office desk with a computer.
Veterans Affairs Canada is also re-designing its Career Transition Services. The new education benefit provides financial support for up to four years of college, university or technical education.Back to Minister in same place as before.
