Mental Health

During this time, it is natural to be concerned and worried. If you need mental health support, the VAC Assistance Service is a free, 24/7 resource that connects you to psychological support and counselling. Call 1-800-268-7708 to speak to a mental health professional right now.

Applications

We are working remotely and continue to make as many decisions as possible on treatment and benefits while quickly issuing payments to Veterans.

Your date of application is protected, even if you are unable to submit medical (or other) information to support your claim until later. If your claim is approved, you will be paid back to this date. Find out more on the COVID-19 information and assistance for Veterans page.

Emergency Financial Support

If you need emergency financial assistance, the Veterans Emergency Fund may suit your needs.

Your financial benefits from VAC will not be affected by other emergency benefits you may receive, such as the Canada Emergency Response Benefit.

Healthcare services (Treatment Benefits)

We have adapted our Treatment Benefits program to ensure you receive the treatment and services you need. We are:

  • waiving certain prescription requirements
  • extending coverage for telehealth/virtual health services
  • providing updates on provincial and territorial healthcare services
  • covering personal protective equipment (PPE) for health appointments. You can use your VAC Health Identification card to purchase PPE so you do not need to pay out of pocket.

Cannabis for Medical Purposes

  • Access to cannabis for medical purposes is not impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Education and Training

We are working with Veterans who receive the Education and Training Benefit to review their education plan based on how it may have been affected by COVID.

Contact us

You can connect with us by phone at 1-866-522-2122 or through My VAC Account secure messaging. Our offices are closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
