The memorial building with plaques was erected by the city of Ottawa. The plaques were unveiled in 1990 and 1997. The memorial is dedicated to Admiral of the Fleet Sir Provo William Perry Wallis, GCB (1791-1892), from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He joined the Royal Navy at a very young age and fought in the War of 1812, commanding a frigate in battle near Boston when the ship's captain was severely wounded and his second-in-command killed. He saw action throughout the 1800`s in Halifax, Madagascar, the Mediterranean and South America. He was appointed Admiral of the fleet in 1877.

The building now known as Wallis House was built in 1873 as the County of Carleton Protestant General Hospital. It remained a hospital until 1924 whereupon it served as a Catholic seminary until 1943 when the military took over and used it as the Headquarters for the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service during the Second World War. The Navy gave it the name Wallis House, after Provo Wallis a hero of the War of 1812. After the Second World War, it served as housing for returning veterans and during the 1950`s was used for various military purposes, eventually becoming the home of 28 Service Battalion. In 1994 it was sold to a developer who transformed the building into condominiums.

This framed scroll with a Memorial Book was erected by St. Joseph`s Parish. The scroll has the names of all members of St. Joseph`s parish who volunteered for active service with Canada`s fighting forces in the Second World War while the Memorial Book has short biographies of those members who gave their lives.

This memorial is a group of three plaques hanged on the same wall, one below the other. On the large plaque is a circular "bas relief" of Brigadier-General Brutinel bust, and a "bas relief" of machine gunners on Vimy ridge. The plaques are dedicated to the memory of the members of the Canadian machine Gun Corps who died on active service and in honour of those who served. The plaques are also dedicate to the memory of Brigadier-General R. Brutinel, C.B. C.M.G. D.S.O. who commanded the Canadian Machine Gun Corps. In August 1914, Major Raymond Brutinel enrolled the first recruits for the corps here, in the Chateau Laurier.

The Hall of Colours, created in 2007, is a dignified and honourable resting place for unit Colours which are to be laid-up. The retired Colours (flags) of Canada’s army, naval and air force regiments are mounted at ceiling level. Following tradition, these flags will remain honourably suspended and untouched, until they completely disintegrate. The area is for the exclusive use of military members and Veterans.

Flags have been used from the earliest times to identify individuals and groups. Ancient armies carried flags emblazoned with eagles, ravens, dragons and other like devices. Medieval flags often bore religious emblems, such as the Cross of St. George. Many flags which originated as the insignia of individuals, gradually came to represent the state or agencies within the state.

“Colours” is a general term with the following meanings: consecrated ceremonial flags carried by designated Canadian Forces combatant formations and units, including Standards, Guidons, Queen's Colours, and command, regimental and military college Colours.

En hommage aux membres de la communauté universitaire qui ont
contribué, au fil des ans, à maintenir ou à rétablir la paix dans le
monde, particulièrement durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Plus de
1000 diplômés de l`Université d`Ottawa ont participé au conflit de 1939
à 1945 et plus d`une cinquantaine d`entre eux y ont perdu la vie. Cette
plaque commémorative a été dévoilée le 11 novembre 1998 dans le
cadre des célébrations du 150e anniversaire de l`Université d`Ottawa.

Unveiled on November 11, 1998 during the University of Ottawa's 150th
anniversary celebrations, this plaque honours the members of the University community who, over the years, have helped maintain or
restore peace in the world, especially during the second World War
(1939-1945). Of the more than 1,000 University of Ottawa graduates
who took part in this armed conflict, more than 50 lost their lives.

This memorial was erected by the University of Ottawa and was unveiled on November 11, 2009. As a doctoral candidate in History at the University of Ottawa, Anne Millar`s research has resulted in the erection of a commemorative plaque in honour of university students and graduates who fell in the Second World War.

There is a second plaque at the university, unveiled in 1998, that is now mounted in the same frame as the new plaque and dedicated to the same group of people. The memorial was done in the official colors of the university and includes the university crest.

The Church of St. Bartholomew is part of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa and has served the communities of New Edinburgh, Rockcliffe Park, Lindenlea and Ottawa since its founding in 1866. The stained white pine pews and the ceiling were made by early parishioner Henry Avery, cabinetmaker to the first three Governors General.

The first pew on the south side, containing five Victorian chairs and marked with the Royal arms, is the Vice-Regal pew, occupied by visiting members of the Royal family. The Queen and Prince Philip visited the church in 1982, and Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Richard of Gloucester have attended services. All Governors General, whether Anglican or not, have frequently occupied the Vice-Regal pew, as have lieutenant governors of the provinces.

In 1919, the Duke of Devonshire, Governor General at that time, decided that the seat immediately behind the Vice-Regal pew should be kept for members of the of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, when present. A regimental plaque and a small descriptive brass plate were presented to the church in November 1980 and are located on the Patricia Pew. This memorial was rededicated by the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Colonel-in-Chief Princess Patricia's Light Infantry during the centennial of the Regiment on 19 September 2014.

The great East Window, known as Ottawa Window, was commissioned in 1916 by Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught, the third son of Queen Victoria and then Governor-General of Canada, in memory of members of his personal staff who fell in the First World War. The window was commissioned during the war, and there was no guarantee that more officers would not die. So the decision was taken not to include their names in the lower register of the window, but rather to have a separate tablet placed nearby. Those commemorated are recorded on a brass plaque on the north wall of the sanctuary.

It was unveiled by the Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VIII, on 9 November 1919. The window’s creator, Wilhelmina Geddes, was a young artist associated with the avant garde artistic workshop An Tur Gloine (Tower of Glass).

This plaque is dedicated to the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry first Colonel-in-Chief, Lady Patricia Ramsay, VA, CI, CD, and was unveiled by the then present Colonel-in-Chief, the Countess Mountbatten of Burma. The plaque hangs in a very prominent part of the church, just to the right of the lectern in the sanctuary.
