It's the amount of alertness that you
would experience is something else,
especially if it's a fighter patrol because
you..., all hell can break lose at
any time and you know it.
You had pinpointed areas of
concentration, known areas of
concentration of our [inaudible]
and you would, these places you would
approach with great caution and
sometimes this is as far as you
would go because why make
noise and movement if you
can engage without doing that.
For instance, if you know where these
people are going to be it makes sense
to find that location, set up and wait.
The order was to engage....
What's the term that they use these
days and they used it then too,
rules of engagement and
they were well established
and we didn't go into the valley for,
with a fighter patrol to not engage.
When the time was right, we engaged.
